Tennessee Remote Online Notary (RON) Technology Provider Requirements

Tennessee mandates that Notaries Public and Remote Online Notary (RON) Technology Providers adhere to specific requirements when submitting their applications. Providing the following items ensures compliance with state regulations:

Application Requirements

To complete your application, you must provide documentation for the following essential technology and procedure components:

1. The name of the vendor and electronic technology or technologies to be used in attaching or logically associating an electronic notarial certificate, signature, and seal to an electronic document.
2. The name of the vendor and the electronic technology or technologies to be used in conducting identity proofing and credential analysis.
3. A copy of the applicant’s unique electronic notarial certificate or other technology for rendering a notarized electronic document tamper-evident.
4. A copy of the applicant’s unique electronic seal in PDF format (i.e. Exemplar document)
5. A copy of any necessary instructions or techniques supplied by a vendor that allow the online notary public’s electronic signature and seal to be read and authenticated, in PDF format.
6. A copy of any necessary instructions or techniques supplied by a vendor that allow the online notary public to conduct identity proofing and credential analysis, in PDF format.
7. An explanation of the methods and/or technology by which the online notary public will maintain and store the secure electronic records of all electronic documents notarized by the online notary public in accordance with Rule 1360-07-03-.03(8).
