Updated Consent Process
What changed?: Stavvy has overhauled the eConsent process to ensure that we only request eConsent from users when we need to and can show the signature images used by signers in our audit trail reports. Previously, Stavvy asked all users to provide eConsent for every signing session. From now on Stavvy will ask for eConsent in the following scenarios:
- A notary user sets up their notary profile and adopts their notary signature
- A signer user wants to sign a document in Stavvy for the first time
- Any user wants to update their signature
- Stavvy updates our eConsent terms to a new version
Users without valid eConsent
When a user who has never signed in Stavvy before or does not have a valid eConsented signature begins the signing process a eSign packet or Meeting, we will prompt them to accept our eConsent terms.
Next, we will prompt the user to adopt a new signature, but we will default to populating a typed version of their name. The user can choose a new typed, drawn, or uploaded version of their signature and initials.
Users with Valid eConsent
If a user has eConsented previously and their eConsent is valid, we will show them their current signature and initials images when they begin a signing session and prompt them to change their signature or begin signing. If they choose to keep their current signature then they can begin signing immediately. The timestamp from their original eConsent event will appear on the audit trail.
Users Changing their Signature
If a signer with an existing signature would like to adopt a new signature, they can do so by clicking on the Update signature button on the left panel of an eSign packet or by clicking on the Signature button in the meeting toolbar.
- Signers can change their signature in an eSign packet by clicking the Update signature button on the left panel
- Signers can change their signature in a meeting by clicking the Signature button on the meeting toolbar
Next, they will be shown their existing signature and initial images. Clicking Cancel will keep their current signature and allow them to continue signing.

New Document Audit Trail Format
What changed?: Document Audit Trails have a new look! We’ve updated the visual appearance of our audit trails and added a new cover page. The cover page outlines details about the document, the signers, and all signature and initial images used by the signers of a document with the timestamp of their eConsent. The event grid contains all the same meeting and signing events that have been there before. Older audit trails will still be displayed in the old format.
