Signer Verification Enhancements
Summary: With these enhancements, Stavvy delivers a safer and more secure signer verification protocol compliant with NIST IL2 standards. This protocol integrates additional measures for verifying identity, allowing notaries to make more informed decisions by leveraging a more comprehensive range of data to supplement their professional expertise. The most notable changes include:
- Summary of Signer Verification Results: Presented to the notary after the signer completes the Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) and ID scan steps, this summary details the various verification checkpoints—KBA, Credential Analysis, Social Security Number verification, Geolocation, and Biometrics. It equips the notary with comprehensive information to make an informed judgment about the signer's identity's authenticity and integrity.
- Notary Decision: Upon reviewing the signer verification results, the notary makes a pass/fail decision on the signer's identity.
- Prerequisite for Document Signing: Signer verification must be successfully completed before proceeding with document signing. This can be achieved in one of two ways: either the notary passes the signer based on the verification results, or the notary acknowledges a "personally known" acquaintance with the signer.
- Enhanced Security with Multi-Factor Authentication: Signers must complete a secondary authentication step before accessing Stavvy. This involves entering a 6-digit one-time passcode received via call or text on their phone.

Meeting Observer Document Visibility
What changed?: Observers can preview and view documents during meetings, enhancing their participation capabilities. Unlike signers, observers are exempt from completing ID Verification or Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA). This marks a significant change from previous protocols, where observers were not granted access to view documents in meetings.
Area of the Product: Meetings
Impacted Users: Meeting Observers
Highlight Added to Annotation Focus State
What changed?: When an annotation is selected, it will now be highlighted in yellow. This feature is designed to capture the signer's attention more effectively by emphasizing the annotation currently under review.
Area of the Product: Document Signing
Impacted Users: Signers
Non-PDF Document Upload Warning
What changed?: Users will now receive a warning message when uploading documents to a meeting or packet that are not in PDF format. This reminder serves to inform users that annotation and signing functionalities are unavailable for non-PDF file types.
Area of the Product: Document Upload
Impacted Users: Meeting and eSign packet creators
Bug Fixes
Whoops - our bad! Here’s the latest list of bugs we’ve squashed.
Signature Annotations Not Displaying Middle Name Before Signing
What was fixed?: Previously, signature annotations displayed only the signer's middle initial rather than their full middle name prior to signing. Although this discrepancy did not affect the appearance of the signer's full name in their actual signature, it led to confusion in the preview. This issue has been addressed to ensure preview accuracy and eliminate any misleading differences.
Area of the Product: Document Signing
Impacted Users: Signers, Notaries
